Disney Magic:

This ship resembles a classic liner, with its sleek design and black hull trimmed in gold. The familiar mouse ears on the red stacks mark this ship as distinctly Disney, though. Passengers and their wait staff rotate among three dining rooms for each night of the cruise.

Disney Magic's biggest attribute is its ability to please families of all ages and backgrounds, no easy task. Disney's onboard cinema, the Buena Vista Theater, is a big plus and features late-release flicks. The 8,000 square foot spa offers massage/beauty facilities and an exercise area with glass wall with a view of the working bridge, located a deck below.

Three main pools are found on Sports Deck, one for families with a lengthy slide tube into the pool, one for sports activities such as water volleyball, a third for adults only. A full promenade deck is designated for jogging and walking and additional activities include a batting and driving range. Charming and vaguely art deco-ish, with sleek fixtures, the standard outside cabin (with or without balcony) is clearly designed with families in mind. Beds convert from twins to queen and are cloistered in the middle section by a curtain that divides the bedroom area from the sitting area, which is particularly useful at night, after the kids are asleep.

Disney Family CruisesIn the sitting area, there's a sleep sofa, coffee table, desk and color television. Verandahs, are plentiful at 44 percent of outside staterooms. Festive Parrot Cay boasts Caribbean flair, and Lumiere's offers an elegant setting. In the Animator's Palate, your surroundings start out in black and white, then gradually develop into full color during the course of the meal.

Palo is the romantic alternative restaurant for adults only. There's an extensive children's program, with the ship boasting 15,000 square feet of dedicated kids' space. Special areas and activities just for adults range from wine tastings to pampering treatments at the Vista Spa & Salon to a separate adult pool. After-hours options along Beat Street (for grown-ups only) include a rock 'n' roll dance club, improv comedy club and a quiet piano lounge that's perfect for a nightcap.

Disney Wonder:
They look alike, and they both sail alike too, but Disney Wonder has a feel all it's own. The 83,000 ton ship made it's inaugural debut in August 1999, and upon stepping aboard please take note of the Wonder's Art Nouveau-style lobby, which features sycamore wood, blue glass and polished nickel railings.

Noted artist and designer Dale Chiluly has created a gorgeous Venetian art glass chandelier that graces the atrium. The ship is stunning, featuring a customized artwork designed exclusively for the Disney Wonder. Those of you familiar with the resorts at Walt Disney World know their obsession with iconography, and the Disney sister ships haven't escaped unscathed. You'll find "hidden" (and not so hidden) Mickeys on the soaps in the bathroom, curtains, bedspreads, railings, artwork, etc. You get the idea.

Cabins are among the largest in the industry, and 74% of them are outside. You'll find them well laid out, and decorated with hand-crafted wood trim, gray, red and blue fabrics. Once again, you'll find Mickey ears everywhere. All cabins accommodate three or four passengers and family suites (291 sq. ft) hold five. These family suites feature queen or twin beds, convertible sofa and pulldown beds. Basic inside cabins are 173 square feet and cabins with private verandahs are 253 square feet with convertible sofa as well as queen/twin beds.

One bedroom suites (591 square feet) holding four or five people and two bedroom suites sleeping five with two and a half bathrooms, whirlpool tub, TV/VCR, walk-in closets, wet bar are also available. Suite accommodations have a private concierge service which assists in booking shore excursions, spa appointments, dinner at Palo and bring a full breakfast each morning.

The children's program is organized and run by dozens of caring youth counselors, along with scheduled character greetings (and many surprise visits too) throughout the day. The inclusion of a brand-new nursery, Flounder's Reef, fills a void for parents looking for childcare for their infants through age three.

Disney Wonder offers a seven-night cruise/hotel package that begin with a three- or four-night stay at Walt Disney World, followed by a three- or four-day cruise. The four-day cruise (departing every Tuesday) visits Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, Nassau and a day at sea. The three-day cruise (Saturday departures) calls in Nassau and Castaway Cay.

Disney Cruise Line. Disney Cruise Line Adds Two Eastern Caribbean Itineraries - Amidst a Wave of New Choices for Guests in 2008 & 2009.
Disney Cruise Line announced today two new eastern Caribbean itineraries for 2009 -- giving guests more choices than ever before to explore the beautiful islands of the Caribbean -- and special offerings for 2008.

Beginning in 2009, St. Croix will be a featured stop on one new seven-night itinerary, and Tortola will be featured on another seven-night itinerary. Both islands are new to Disney Cruise Line, increasing the seven-night Caribbean choices on the Disney Magic to four itineraries (Disney's traditional eastern and western Caribbean itineraries will continue).

"The Caribbean continues to be an extremely popular destination for our guests," said Tom McAlpin, president of Disney Cruise Line. "Expanding our offerings in the eastern Caribbean provides our first-time cruisers an array of popular destinations to choose from, while also providing seasoned Disney cruisers new destinations to visit and explore with Disney."

McAlpin noted that there are also special offerings during 2008 including a summer season of sailings to the Mexican Riviera, select cruises with multiple stops at Disney's private island paradise, Castaway Cay, and an enhanced seven-night Land and Sea package that combines the adventure of a Disney cruise with the fun and excitement of a stay at Walt Disney World Resort.

As a special treat during the summer of 2008, Disney Cruise Line has redesigned the four-night itinerary to offer two stops at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the tropical waters of the Bahamas. Castaway Cay continues to be one of the highlights of a Disney Cruise vacation, and with this new itinerary, guests will have twice as much time -- two full days -- to enjoy all the amenities and activities of the tropical oasis. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand beaches, swaying palm trees and beautiful tropical flowers, Castaway Cay provides the ultimate escape, whether a guest is seeking adventure, relaxation or quality time with the family.  Altering the traditional four-night itinerary, these 16 special sailings will bookend a day in Nassau with two visits to Castaway Cay.

Brand New Musical Aboard Disney Cruise Line Brings Disney - Pixar’s “Toy Story” to the Stage for the First Time.
Disney Cruise Line will transform one of the most beloved animated features of all time into a stage spectacular aboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship when "Toy Story-The Musical" makes its debut at the Walt Disney Theatre this spring. This is the first time the popular Disney-Pixar classic has been adapted for the stage.

Preserving the humor and heart of the original "Toy Story" film from Pixar Animation Studios, "Toy Story-The Musical" explores the true meaning of friendship as Buzz Lightyear and Woody transform from jealous adversaries to best friends with an unbreakable bond. The show's elaborate costumes capture the vibrant colors and playfulness of the animated characters. Guests of all ages will delight in an original collection of show tunes that retell the story in a fun and energizing way.

"World-class Disney entertainment is an important hallmark of Disney Cruise Line that sets us apart from the rest of the cruise industry and one of the reasons guests sail with us again and again," said Disney Cruise Line President Tom McAlpin. " 'Toy Story-The Musical' represents the next generation of staged entertainment for Disney Cruise Line and a great enhancement to our incredible array of entertainment aboard the Disney Wonder."

Following the storyline of the original Disney•Pixar film, "Toy Story-The Musical" will give guests a toy's eye-view of life in Andy's room. The musical opens with an introduction to Woody, a pull-string talking cowboy who has long been six-year-old Andy's favorite toy. But Andy's birthday brings a new arrival -- Buzz Lightyear, the coolest action figure in the universe. Woody's jealousy gets the better of him and he schemes to get rid of his new rival, but things go dreadfully awry. Woody and Buzz find themselves outside of Andy's room and in a hostile world. Working together and overcoming their differences, they find their way back to Andy -- along the way developing an appreciation of one another and creating a friendship.

"The 'Toy Story' film offered us a rich story and some incredible visual elements to build upon," noted Jim Urry, vice president of Entertainment for Disney Cruise Line. "The team we assembled created costumes, set designs and a whole new musical score to literally transport our guests into the middle of the whimsical world of Buzz and Woody."

Taking audiences into that world was no small task. Larger-than-life props help transform the 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre into a toy-sized world of fun and adventure. A rear projection screen aids the transformation between human-sized and toy-sized scenes and takes the show from the comfort of Andy's room ... to the frenzied world of Pizza Planet ... to the frightening room of Andy's neighbor, Sid. Using Randy Newman's Oscar nominated hit song "You've Got a Friend in Me" as a departure point, this production has a new eight-song score that brings the story to life. New York-based Valerie Vigoda and Brendan Milburn from the band GrooveLily blended together pop, rock and folk music to create a contemporary score that truly captures the heartfelt whimsy of the animated tale.

The costumes for "Toy Story-The Musical" are some of the most complex ever developed for a Disney Cruise Line production. Costume designer Ann Closs-Farley created an extraordinary vision for what the characters would look like on stage. With a combination of articulated puppets and inflatable costumes, the "Toy Story" characters come to life -- including a nearly 9-foot-tall version of Rex the dinosaur and a 4-foot-round Hamm the piggybank.

In all, "Toy Story-The Musical" represents one of the largest productions ever developed for a cruise ship. This is just the second time a Pixar animated feature has been adapted for the stage by Disney Creative Entertainment.

In early 2007, "Finding Nemo-The Musical" debuted at Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort and has been a tremendous success. "When we first thought of bringing 'Toy Story' to the stage, there was a great deal of excitement about the project," said Anne Hamburger, Disney Creative Entertainment executive vice president. "Everyone on our team could immediately see how the heart and comedy of these characters could come alive in a memorable way that is unique to musical theatre."

"Toy Story-The Musical" compliments an already stellar lineup of entertainment performed every voyage on the Disney Wonder, joining stage shows "The Golden Mickeys" and the award-winning "Disney Dreams."
